Avid Toyota fan Mark Trueno has become the proud owner of the first GR Supra delivered in Australia, following a special presentation at Sci-Fleet Toyota in Taringa, Brisbane.
The passionate Supra enthusiast became the first to drive away in the new model after he was selected in a randomised ballot process during the first online sales window on 19 June.
But last weekend, Mark couldn't have been happier as he got behind the wheel of his 3.0-litre turbo GR Supra GTS finished in bright Silverstone Yellow with the optional Alcantara interior trim.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley, said that Mark's passion and enthusiasm mirrored that of the people at Toyota who developed the all-new Supra model, making him the perfect recipient for the first Supra in Australia.
"As a longstanding member of the Toyota family, we are delighted that Mark is the among the first in the country to own this iconic car," Mr Hanley said.
As the owner and operator of StreetFX, one of Australia's largest motorsport graphics suppliers and importer of racing parts, Mark said he was very familiar with the storied Toyota Supra.
"Growing up, both my mother and father were part of the Toyota family having always owned Toyotas, which sparked my interest in the brand," Mark said.
"But as a kid, I drove my first Supra in a video game and ever since then, I've always wanted one. You could drive Ferraris and Lamborghinis but I always chose the Supra, this crazy powerful car from Japan.
"I've been fortunate enough to have owned quite a few Supra models but this 2020 GR Supra will be front and centre in my garage. Not only is it visually stunning but it's fantastic to drive," Mark said.
In recognition of his taking delivery of the first car in the country, Mark also received a Supra engine cover signed by Toyota Motor Corporation GR Supra Chief Engineer, Tetsuya Tada.
With two online sales windows already complete, Toyota has more than 200 reservations for the new car with the next online sales window for 2019 opening on 25 September, at 12:00pm AEST.
